About The Movement Collective
The Movement Collective was created with the belief that movement should feel supportive, empowering, and accessible to everyone.
Founded by Kim Olson, The Movement Collective brings together Pilates, barre, and evidence-based exercise in a welcoming, small-studio environment. With private sessions and intentionally small group classes, the focus is on thoughtful instruction, individual attention, and helping each person move with more confidence.
Just as important as the movement itself is the sense of community behind it. The goal is to create a space where people feel comfortable showing up as they are, getting to know the people around them, and feeling genuinely supported. Small class sizes allow for more connection, more personalized attention, and a studio environment that feels welcoming rather than intimidating.
Kim’s background in professional dance, kinesiology, Pilates, and clinical movement has shaped an approach that looks beyond simply getting through a workout. Sessions are designed to help you better understand your body, build strength, improve mobility, and develop movement that supports both everyday life and the activities you love.
Whether you’re new to movement, looking to become stronger, returning to exercise, or wanting more individualized support, The Movement Collective is a space to meet you where you are.
Meet Kim
Kim’s love of movement began through dance. After training and dancing professionally in New York City for nine years, she became increasingly interested in how movement could be used beyond performance.
While living in New York, Kim had the opportunity to develop movement programming for individuals living with Multiple Sclerosis. That experience helped shape her passion for making movement accessible to people of different ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
After returning to Alberta, Kim earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Calgary, completed a 100-hour barre fitness certification, and became a 500-hour comprehensively certified Pilates instructor. Her experience includes working with dancers, older adults, neurological populations, rehabilitation clients, and individuals simply looking to feel stronger and more confident in their bodies.
The goal is simple.
To create a space where movement feels personal, purposeful, welcoming, and connected.
Whether that means learning about the reformer for the first time, building strength, improving mobility, refining athletic or dance performance, or simply finding a way of moving that feels good, you’re welcome here.
